Part-time day and evening courses are delivered locally in community venues. As a democratic organisation, the WEA seeks to involve participants in organising and planning their own learning. Further information about the WEA and the courses we offer is available on our web-site www.wea.org.uk

In Calderdale the WEA offers:

Branch Programme - courses open to all adults offered through WEA branches in Halifax and the Upper Calder Valley. Drawn from the humanities, sciences and arts, subjects on offer include history, local history, family history, literature, creative writing, poetry writing, philosophy, music appreciation, geology, botany, circle dance, dry stone walling etc.

Community Education Programme – courses arranged in partnership with Schools, Children’s Centres and Community Organisations and offered via. our partner organisations to parents or clients. Courses offered under this programme include “Helping in Schools”, the well-established 12 week accredited course for parent helpers in primary schools. Other subjects available include sewing, yoga, healthy families, parenting skills, arts and crafts, ICT, Spanish, local history, family history etc.

Skills for Life - courses in Literacy, Numeracy and English as a Second Language. These courses are arranged in partnership with Schools and Community Organisations and offered via. our partner organisations to parents or clients.
